My sister, Vettie, sent me a beauty care package (Thanks Vettie!) Included were some of my fave beauty items plus a couple of new ones for me to try.
Hanae Mori Body Cream - This cream leaves my skin feeling velvety soft. And every time I wear it I get compliments on how yummy it smells.

Hanae Mori Butterfly Perfurme – I looove this fragrance. Just love it.

Dior Addict Ultra-Gloss Reflect Lipgloss - It goes on silky smooth and gives your lips an incredible shine.

Biotherm Nutrisource Lip Balm - This was a new product for me. A really nourishing lip balm with a hint of honey. Plus there’s sugar in the formula for a mini exfoliation. I put it on at night before bed and when I wake up my lips feel so soft

Hanae Mori HM Cologne – Vettie even included a little treat for my boyfriend (isn’t she the greatest?!) A great oriental, woodsy smell. Very masculine. Very sexy. Apparently, he’s getting tons of compliments from the girls at work!

Hello Mavens! I found this really great product and I just had to share with you. The Art of Shaving has a wonderful line of products for ladies called Rose Absolute For Sensitive Skin. It comes in pretty pink packaging and promises to leave skin smooth and sleek, while relieving and preventing those dreaded ingrown hairs.
Formulated with pure Rose Absolute, distilled from the finest, fresh-picked rose petals, naturally therapeutic, to soothe and hydrate. Rich glycerin leaves legs soft and silky while protective coconut oil helps the razor glide easily and freely. Luxurious lather leaves the skin moisturized and scented with the delicate aroma of roses.
I love the Ingrown Hair Night Cream - it accelerates the relief of ingrown hair and razor bumps.
Pure, unrefined African shea butter softens the skin, allowing ingrown hairs to break free, as jojoba oil moisturizes and unclogs pores. White willow bark and meadowsweet extract, containing salicilin, gently exfoliate to release the trapped hair. Formulated with pure Rose Absolute antiseptic and soothing, with therapeutic essential oils to reduce inflammation. Botanical extracts rich in fruit acids improve skin’s texture.
All in all, my legs were smooth and my daughter’s underarms were ingrown hair free! A definite must try!

I have short, stumpy eyelashes. How do I make my lashes look fuller?
I definitely identify with this question! But with these tips, we can all get va-va-voom lashes. It’s a great idea to use two different types of mascara- one for definition (a standard brush with gel formula) and one for fullness (formula made with water-soluble fiber). First, curl lashes with a lash curler – use a mini lash curler for a maximum curl. Start with the gel formula using a zigzag motion to coat all the lashes. Second, use the fiber built-in mascara to add length and volume to your lashes. You can also try lash primer before you apply mascara which can add volume and helps with thickness. Also, take note of the mascara wand- it can make a huge difference! Use a small brush for short lashes and a bigger brush for adding fullness to lashes. Last, always remember to toss your mascara about every 5-6 months.

Charlize Theron graces the August cover of British Elle. She looks stunning!

Get Charlize’s look:
- Use a light concealer to tackle any blemishes or to hide dark circles in the under eye area. Next, apply a good quality liquid foundation all over. Choose a rose or pinkish blush and apply the shade to the outer apples of your cheeks using a large brush. Finally, top it off with a loose powder.
- Cover the entire lid with a gold or coppery shimmer eye shadow. For the crease, apply a dark gray or dark pink shade. Next, highlight your eyes with a flesh or pink shade under your arch. To get your eyebrows looking fabulous, add definition with powder in a color that is slightly darker than your hair color. Line the entire lid with black or dark brown liner.
-
For the lips, start off with a plum or raspberry color lip liner. Next, fill in the rest of your lips with a berry shade of lipstick and top it off with a high-shine pink gloss over the top to give your lips a lush and colorful look.

Here are some Beauty News snippets from Women’s Wear Daily:
Ed Hardy designer Christian Audigier plans to follow up the tattoo-inspired fashion brand’s inaugural fragrance duo — which became a surprise hit earlier this year — with a pair called Love & Luck that’s slated for December.
Australian hair removal specialist Nad’s is making its first foray into the nondepilatory business by launching a skin care line. Sue Ismiel, owner and founder of the Sydney-based company, told WWD during a recent trip to Los Angeles that the new Pura Skin collection will launch by the end of this year or early 2009. Formulated primarily as an antiacne regimen, Ismiel described the products as “problem-solving” and created after one of her three daughters, Nadine, suffered for several years from adult acne.
Elizabeth Arden is determined to put aging on hold this fall. The beauty giant, which teamed up with pharmaceutical powerhouse Allergan in spring 2005 to create a department store version of Allergan’s Prevage, is adding a new component to the franchise in November. Prevage Body Total Transforming Anti-Aging Moisturizer is being billed as the first cosmeceutical body treatment with idebenone, by Elizabeth Park, executive vice president of global marketing and general manager of Elizabeth Arden USA. “It’s designed specifically to deal with body skin issues, including stretch marks, dimpled skin and minor scars,” said Park.
With its signature gold facial in about 60 of the top spas in the U.S., Japanese beauty brand Umo is about to launch its new line of retail products, which incorporate the same ingredients that have made the gold treatment a success. The offerings, which will bow nationwide and internationally by the end of the summer, contain gamma-PGA — a compound derived from marine jellyfish and considered significantly more hydrating than hyaluronic acid. Use of the ingredient, also known as polyglutamic acid, is said to help diminish fine lines and wrinkles, brighten skin and lock in moisture.
Have a Great Weekend!

Lovers of the spicy, aromatic Black Orchid by Tom Ford must wait no longer for his newest scent. The new Tom Ford White Patchouli is now available for pre-order at Neiman Marcus. The perfume will ship no later than 7/27/2008. They don’t ship to Canada, sorry my Canuck friends. Here’s a description of the basenotes:
“Opens energetically sparkling notes of bergamot blended with delicate white peony and spicy coriander accents make an instant play for attention. The alluring and modern heart unfolds in sequence: rich rose absolute, carnal night blooming jasmine, and the stimulating ambrette seed. Precious patchouli orpur infuses the finish with exotic depth. Its stimulating sensual pull is enriched by a medley of blonde woods and the soft eastern aroma of incense.”
Doesn’t that sound delicious? It is priced at $92 for 50 ml and $132 for 100 ml.

Anyone who knows me knows that I’m a wee bit obsessive with my eyebrows. One of my sisters still makes fun of how often I’d brush them when I was in high school. I just really feel like they can make or break your face, which is precisely why I love Ziba Beauty. Among other things, Ziba Beauty specializes in eyebrow threading. My other sister, Vettie (not the one who poked fun at me) introduced me to threading awhile back and I’ve been hooked ever since. The Ziba estheticians are really skilled at finding your best arch. And if you’re not into threading, they do offer waxing services (I’ve never had anything waxed by them but I would assume that they are just as skilled). Some other services include: Facials, Makeup, Wedding Services & Gorgeous Henna Tattoos. In fact, both Gwen Stefani & Madonna have raved about the Henna tattoos they got from Ziba salons.
They have 11 locations around Southern California. If you go to the one in the South Bay Galleria, ask for Rosie. She’s the best.
Happy Threading!
